Roads of Istanbul
There is a developed highway network in Istanbul. The 15 Temmuz Sehitler Bridge, Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, Avrasya Tunnel and some highways have tolls. All vehicles you will rent from Sabiha Gökçen Airport domestic and international terminals, Ataturk Airport domestic and international terminals, and Garenta Taksim Rent a Car, Garenta Kartal Rent a Car, and Garenta Kadıköy Rent a Car offices are equipped with HGS (fast pass service) or OGS (automatic pass service), enabling you to pass from these roads.
Instead of using the bridges or the tunnel for getting from the Anatolian side to the European side or from the European side to the Asian side, you can use the ferry boats departing from Harem or Sirkeci. Also, if you want to risk arriving at your destination somewhat later, you can choose to traverse the toll-free highway or the coastal roads.
When to go to Istanbul?
You can determine your travel to Istanbul based on the weather or the events you follow. Climate wise, we believe that the most ideal months to travel to Istanbul are April, May, June, September and October. However, cultural, arts and sporting events in Istanbul take place throughout the year. Soundgarden at Kilyos, Chill-Out at Sariyer, Burn Electropol Festival at Maslak are listed among some of the city’s best festivals, and easily reachable with your rental car.
What to buy in Istanbul?
There are many products that make ideal gifts from Istanbul. For products exclusive to Istanbul, you can visit the Grand Bazaar and Galata. Points of Attraction in Istanbul
Most of the historical places you must see in Istanbul are located on the European side in the region known as the Historical Peninsula. If you are coming from the Asian side, we advise you to park your car close to the ferry terminal, take the ferry to Eminonu, and then take the tram or walk; car use in the Historical Peninsula is very limited.

The Grand Bazaar and the Spice Market are designed in such a way that one follows the other. We advise you to allow 3-4 hours to visit these markets as they cover a wide area.
On the other side of the Golden Horn’s shore, Karakoy and Taksim await you. We can say that the heart of Istanbul beats in Taksim and on Istiklal Street. However, if you would like to visit and enjoy the most modern cafes of the city, you can head to the side streets of Karakoy.
Kadikoy and Moda in the Anatolian side are among the must-see places. Especially in Moda, there are cafes as modern and attractive as the ones in Karakoy. If you wish, you can buy your coffee, go to the coastal part of Moda and savour your drink in the parks while enjoying the sea view. In many parts of Istanbul, there are car parks managed by the municipality or privately, so you can always park your rental car in the nearest car park and then continue to explore the streets of the city on foot.
It is difficult to answer the question of where to eat in Istanbul because every part of the city offers exciting restaurants and even street food. If you are by the sea, consider a fish sandwich. In addition to traditional dishes such as kebab, meatballs and rice varieties, there are venues that serve the most delicious international favourites like pizzas, pasta and hamburgers.
